Earbuds are throwaway objects. Most of the time, the breakdown comes from a cut copper wire. So, the speakers, which are the most valuable parts, are functional, but thrown away.
I designed earbuds that lasts your whole life. Its components can be disassembled, repaired or replaced. So, when something breaks, you give it back to the manufacturer and he repairs it for you. Each component has its own lifecycle, but you never have to throw away the whole object.
This 4 months project was supervised by
Jean-François Dingjian.
This is made possible thanks to a textile sheath that gives access to the different components when you need to change them. Experimentations on a sheath machine help me to design the earbuds.
